The Paris Opera Ballet is universally regarded as one of the world's greatest dance companies and June 2009 will mark their first ever visit to Brisbane with the spectacular production of Rudolf Nureyev's La Bayadère.
The Company comprising of 100 dancers, together with The Queensland Orchestra, will perform at Queensland Performing Arts Centre's, Lyric Theatre. Before commencing their exclusive Brisbane season, the étoiles and premier danseurs of the company will participate in a glittering one-off Grand Gala Performance.
The programme for this extraordinary evening will not only showcase the talents of the participating dancers but also provide a sampler of the company's remarkable repertoire, featuring highlights from ballets by Serge Lifar, George Balanchine, Maurice Bejart, Jiří Kylián and Carolyn Carlson that trace the trajectory of dance with 20th century contemporary masterpieces.
