Students from the Dee Jays School of Dance are celebrating great things this week following a very successful Charters Towers eisteddfod and receiving their Royal Academy of Dance Examination Results.  Exam preparation is six months of steady and consistent work leading up to a day where a visiting examiner this year from Sydney, assesses the progress and standard of the children.  The work and music is the same worldwide and all children are marked with the same marking system. Exam work at Dee Jays is optional and once again the Studio has received outstanding results with 12 of the 21 participants receiving the Highest Mark possible (4 highter than 81%) and 8 of the remaining 9 receiving marks between 70-75%.

Studio principae Denise Hadley flew to Brisbane last weekend to watch Dee Jays School of Dance student Georgie Bailey participate in her RAD Solo Seal Examination, the highest Award the Royal Academy of Dance has to offer in exams.  “Georgie was divine, I didn’t even get half way through watching the first exercise and was crying with pride” Mrs Hadley said.  Next month Georgie will fly to London to participate in the world’s most prestigious ballet competition the Genee Awards.  While overseas she will also take classes at some of the most famous dance studios in the world. “What an exciting adventure for a girl who calls the Whitsundays home. “  “Once again it just goes to show that the best possible ground work is available right here at Dee Jays”.

With the recent success of the Studio we are all looking forward to presenting our Annual Stage Spectacular on 13th and 14th November at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre.  This year we have once again been given the opportunity to dance a shortened Matinee Performance for all schools in the area.  Invitations have been sent to all schools from Merinda to Calen to give local children the opportunity to watch their peers perform at a discounted price of just $5.  Ask your school if you are attending.
